Sr. Construction Inspection Technician

Position Description

Beaver Engineering is a family owned Geotechnical Engineering & Materials Testing Company located in Nashville, TN. We are celebrating 50 years in business and have a great team. We are looking for a responsible, hard working individual who is interested in becoming a part of our team.

We are currently seeking an experienced field technician to work in the Middle Tennessee area.

Preferred a minimum two years experience with testing concrete, soil, and other construction materials along with basic certifications including HAZMAT & ACI Level 1 Concrete.

This individual will be responsible for performing the following:
•Field Testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, mortar and grout for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO , DOT and/or project specifications.
•Transporting & operating a nuclear density gauge
•Documenting field activities, observation & testing results on various construction projects and their confirmation or deviation from project plans.
•Reviewing and understanding construction drawings and specifications in preparation for field observations.
•Communication of testing results to the Engineering team at Beaver Engineering, contractors and/or clients

•High school diploma or GED, required
•Previous experience in geotechnical and/or construction materials testing
•Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
•The ability to routinely lift 40 to 50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
•An understanding of professionalism and tact, relative to interaction with all members of the team, including site laborers, project owners, site superintendents, architects, design engineers, and project managers;
•A willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
•The ability to work and maneuver equipment (such as a loaded wheelbarrow) on uneven ground and around active construction sites.
•A valid drivers license and a good driving record.
